Objective

Angelswing is a cloud platform that creates digital copies of construction sites using drone imagery and 360° captures. The platform needed a more structured design process to move beyond isolated workflows and achieve better internal alignment while continuing to rapidly release features for the construction industry.

Fuzzy & Misaligned workflows

The company was focused on rapid feature releases without a structured design process. Research, documentation, and testing were overlooked. The part-time contractor designer had limited developer interaction, leading to isolated workflows. There was also inadequate alignment among internal stakeholders and no synchronized approach.

Approach

Speedy & Systematic collaboration

We established a collaborative system while maintaining continuous feature releases. Our strategy included varied user-centered research (testing with clients and internal users, heuristic evaluations, surveys, competitive analysis), automated insight generation through Hotjar, detailed documentation of all design decisions and components, and weekly stakeholder alignment meetings to ensure everyone understood the "why" behind decisions.

Some highlights from the Process

Over the year, we redesigned major features using usability research and competitive insights. We fixed key pain points and added new features through brainstorming, prototyping, testing, and implementation. Some updates were small, while others required deeper tech integrations that moved the product toward a full construction management platform. We also built a clear design system with Figma variants, prototypes, and handover docs to speed development and improve collaboration.

Reflections

This experience, challenging but equally rewarding, taught me valuable lessons about working across cultures and rebuilding design foundations. Some of the key learning that I am proud of.
